2017 NFT

The year 2017 was seminal. In those early days there were no NFTs until, on June 23rd, bending the rules of the ERC-20 protocol to make it happen, Larva Labs introduced the inaugural project: CryptoPunks. It is fitting, then, that the first five spots on the Crypto Noncense roster are dedicated to those Punks. Whilst the sums traded were not large - the highest Punk sale in 2017 was a mere 10Ξ - it was the beginning of something very big indeed!

This artwork showcases and celebrates the highest NFT transactions on Ethereum Mainnet in each month of 2017 where NFTs existed. The blockchain metadata behind these transactions, combined with Crypto Noncense's unique algorithm, generated some wonderfully colorful artworks.
